Poole to Swanage 12.2km
Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Dad drove me down to Poole and we found the signs that mark the beginning of the path. 630 miles to go! The start was picturesque but 4km of beach walking proved more tiring than you’d think and it was surreal to see my walking boots that had only ever been up on Dartmoor sinking into sand. Luckily no naturists were on the naturist beach and before long the path became more ‘cliff-top’ above Old Harry Rocks. I met Dad in Swanage, found an inn to spend the night, started on the cider and reflected on the first day of walking the coastal path.
