Cairngorms Munros

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

So far, 5 of the 25 Munros have been done.  As you can see from the pictures, winter conditions have begun.  The high-level winds and lack of daylight are worse than the snow.

The last four hills were in the Cairngorms, which were the nearest (and the highest – nearly 4,000 ft) of the remaining hills, plus an earlier isolated outlier near Glen Etive.  All hills south of the Great Glen are finished except the last one, Beinn Achaladair, to be climbed on August 29 near Bridge of Orchy.  Don’t forget that you are invited.  Already 30 have said they are coming!  Are you?

Thanks to the generosity of many of them, Afghan Training Foundation has already received £3,200.  Actually, I think we are going to smash the £5,000 target so maybe I’ll need to raise it.

Only 19 more before that last one!  So it’s time to get planning if you are coming to join the party.  Chris says he’ll try to make it.  We are going to have a ceilidh band so bring your dancing shoes!
