Kabul comes to The Art Gallery, Wolds Village, Bainton on Saturday 12 September for a month’s display and sale of beautiful, traditional and modern hand-made carpets - proceeds of which go towards running Afghan Action, a unique social enterprise educating, training and employing young carpet weavers in war-torn Kabul.
Local children will have a chance at weaving an Afghan carpet too. Jean Harlow is running an exciting project in local schools to raise awareness about Afghanistan.
There will be an Event on 3-4th October there will be inter-active displays and activities, including weaving or kite-making.
Pupils in local East Yorkshire schools will be displaying their work at The Art Gallery over the weekend of 3 – 4 October – and visitors will have a chance to try their hand at weaving a carpet and learn how to make and fly a kite – Afghan-style.
