Carpets from Kabul hang on racks in this converted house in London’s Bethnal Green. This is the sales operation for Afghan Action helping to convert British Government money into effective help for young Afghan girls and boys. Abdullah is the link with his home country.

Thousands of miles away in the foothills of the Hindu Kush this is where many of the young people come from. Abdullah visited their families to explain the programme for education and training in Kabul. It takes this boy an hour to get to the small carpet factory set up by Afghan Action.

For the youngest of children this could be part of their future.
