Zakia

Zakia is 15 years old. She was born in Ghazni Province. During the Taliban regime her family was living in Kabul and her brother was killed by the Taliban. Her father was so ill he died. Now her second brother is working as a mechanic and he is responsible for feeding his family. Zakia decided to help solve the family’s economic problems and help her brother, so she came to us to learn carpet weaving. She and her brother support a family of 11.
